Comparison of Reaction Times of Basketball Players in Terms of Their Play Position
Abstract
In this study it was aimed to compare the reaction times of the players who play in different positions such as play-maker, forward, and pivot in a basketball team, taking into account the play positions of them. Forty students (also they are the players of university basketball team), who has done sport for five years or more, participated in the study in a voluntary basis. Nelson Reaction Time Scale was used to measure the reaction times, and one-way variance analyze (ANOVA) was applied to investigate the differences considering play positions. As the result of the study, there were no differences in reaction times considering playing positions of play maker, forwards and pivots (p>0.05). We think that the similar training programs result in similar outcomes in hand-foot reaction times although they play in different play positions.
