A Study Investigating the Hopelessness and Satisfaction Level of Students who Attend Physical Education and Sport Department
Abstract
This research aims to determine the students’ level of hopelessness and satisfaction with life who attend to Physical Education and Sport Department of Erciyes University and Physical Education and Sport Department of Selçuk University. The research is qualified as descriptive and was implemented in lining model. The research’s study group is 230 students who are consisted of 113 students from Erciyes University and 117 students from Selçuk University. The research’s data is gathered by Beck Hopelessness Scale which was improved by Beck and Ark (1974) and adapted to Turkish by Seber (1993) and satisfaction with life scale which was improved by Diener and Ark (1985) and adapted to Turkish by Köker (1991). Test, unilateral analysis of variance and correlation analysis test was done over the gathered data. At the analysis of the gathered data of research was used (SPSS-15) package program. The 0.05 level of significance was taken into account among the relations and differences of variables. At the and of this research, score means of students who were taking course at Physical Education and Sports Colleges in different universities was defined showed that there was a middle level relation between level of hopelessness and life satisfaction. Hopelessness scale showed that there were no significant relation (P<0.05) among sex, different universities department and level of hopelessness. Scale of life satisfaction showed that there was no significant relation (P<0.05) among sex, different universities department and level of hopelessness. There were no significant correlations between general hopelessness level of the students and life satisfaction level.
