The Factors Affecting Obesity in terms of Sex, Ages, Marital Status and Education Level in University Workers Personality
Abstract
This study was planned and carried on to investigate the sex, age, marital status and educational level of university workers in terms of the factors affecting obesity. In this study 376 workers of Dumlupınar University from different departments in the 2008-2009 academic year were participated. One hundred twenty seven academic staff, 133 general administrative services, 20 other services, 12 health services, 29 technical services, 36 security services, and 19 were working at other professional services. In the study university workers’ sexes, ages, marital statues and education level was investigated. Off all the factors that effect obesity; sex, age, marital statues was found statistically meaningful and significant (P<0.05).According to study result; education level wasn’t found statistically significant (P>0.05).The weight of people whose daily calorie amount intake much is higher than those whose daily calorie amount intake is less. According to the result of this study, men compared to woman, elders compared to younger, married compared to singles are more overweight. According to BKİ values calculated; 48.1 percent of employees were in normal size, 41.2 were overweight, and 10.6 were obese. According to these results, overweight people are more in this institution
